How can I register to vote?
In Person: Go to the Town Clerk's Office, 525 Washington St., Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and complete an affidavit of registration which must be answered truthfully under the penalty of perjury. The questions on the affidavit will include your name, residence and date of birth, and identification number (Massachusetts Drivers License Number preferred).
By Mail: Mail-in registration forms are widely available. See Post office, School offices, library, or on line. Please ALSO send a copy of your identification showing your name and Wellesley voting address (i.e., drivers license, utility bill, tax bill).
At the Registry of Motor Vehicles: Keep your motor voter receipt until you receive confirmation from the Town Clerks Office. If you do not receive any confirmation please contact Town Clerk's Office to verify your voting status.
Deadline for Voter Registration:
20 days prior to next election
Board of Registrars (Town Clerk's Office) open extended hours - 8:00 am - 8:00 pm to accept registrations on the last day to register.
When and where may I register?
There is no waiting period to be eligible to register to vote. If you move, you may register to vote as soon as you move into your new home. You may register in person at the Wellesley Town Hall, 525 Washington Street, Town Clerk's Office. ( 8 am - 5 pm Monday - Friday). Mail in forms can be obtained on line at www.canivote.org
Teens turning 18 on or before the next election date may preregister before the birthday. Teens must be registered by the applicable deadline to participate in the next election.
What must I do if I've changed my address since I registered?
If you have moved within Wellesley, notify the Town Clerk's Office of your new address in writing. If you have moved to a new city or town, you must register again in the new location.
What should I do if I registered to vote and I have not heard from my local election official?
If you have NOT received confirmation of your voter status from the Town Clerk's Office within 1 week from the date you registered please contact Diane Innes, Wellesley Elections & Registration Administrator @ 781-431-1019 ext. 2258.

How do I absentee vote?
If you are absent from the Town on election day, physically disabled, or have a religious objection, you may vote absentee in Massachusetts.
Please file a request with the Town Clerk stating your voting name and address and birthdate and the address where your ballot is to be sent. Absentee requests may be filed at any time prior to the election, up until NOON the day prior (June 24). Ballots will be mailed beginning 21 days prior to the election.
If you require the ballot to be mailed out of Wellesley please allow sufficient time for mailing in both directions (generally allow 10 mailing days for a ballot to go out of Wellesley and be returned).
If the ballot is to be mailed out of the United States please allow up to three weeks to accomplish the mailing. If you wish the ballot to be mailed by express/priority or FedEx type service, you must provide us with the mailing materials and payment. Otherwise the ballot will be mailed standard US Mail. Out of country voters are encouraged to use expedited mailing for return of the ballot. UOCAVA voters (out of country) may also qualify for email balloting please contact town clerk for details.
If you wish to absentee vote in person at the Town Clerk's office, please call for an appointment and to determine if ballots are available.
Absentee ballots must be RECEIVED in the Clerk's office on or before the close of the polls on election day.
All absentee ballots are counted at the polling place on the day of the election and are included in the reported totals.
