**  ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATOR  **


The Town of Wellesley’s Assessor’s Office is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Administrator.

Reporting to the Chief Assessor and within the statutory requirements of applicable state laws, regulations and Departmental practices, the Assistant Administrator’s primary responsibility is to oversee the day-to-day administrative and office functions of the Assessor’s office.  The incumbent’s work requires knowledge of appraising land and buildings, of real estate values, of construction costs, and of the laws and regulations governing the assessment of property for tax purposes.  The incumbent anticipates, undertakes and accomplishes office tasks with minimum supervision and exercises a degree of independent judgment.  Directions are received in the form of general outlines, with detailed instructions provided only in unprecedented situations.

There is frequent contact with property owners, developers, attorneys, engineers, bank officials, real estate agents, representatives from the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, and others relative to the Town’s valuation of property.  The incumbent communicates with tact and diplomacy and exhibits a professional demeanor even in contentious situations.  The incumbent assigns projects and workflow to the office staff and field personnel.

Requires:  Associates Degree in business or related field; three to five years of office experience; good computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets and databases; excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and courteous manner, both face-to-face and over the telephone; demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workflow in order to meet statutory deadlines; aptitude for working with numbers; detail oriented; ability to handle confidential information; and the ability to perform duties with frequent interruptions.

The FY 14 salary range is $39,880 – $60,130.

**  ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT  **


Assistant Superintendent – the Wellesley Municipal Light Plant has an opening for an Assistant Superintendent.  The starting base salary ranges from $95,000 to $105,000 with an opportunity to earn an annual bonus.  Applicants must possess a minimum of five years electric utility experience in engineering, operations and construction of 4 kV and 13.8 kV distribution systems.  A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering is required.  Familiarity with SCADA, metering and troubleshooting is a plus.

**  SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS  **

Excellent opportunity for individuals concerned about the safety of children.  The Town of Wellesley is currently looking to hire School Crossing Guards.  We are seeking dependable individuals to assure the safety of school children crossing the streets as they go to and from school. ** SEASONAL PARK AND TREE MAINTENANCE STAFF **  

The Town of Wellesley is a predominantly residential community, located approximately 13 miles west of Boston. Its geographic location and its visual characteristics make it a highly desirable suburb of the Boston area. This town has over 255 acres of active recreational space and 642 acres of passive open space, along with over 6,000 public street trees.  The Wellesley D.P.W. Park & Tree Division is responsible for maintaining the town athletic fields, playgrounds, parklands, conservation areas, public shade trees, open spaces and the landscapes surrounding town buildings.  

Presently we are seeking individuals who like to work outdoors in all weather conditions, can follow verbal & written directions, work independently and possess a strong work ethic.  Positions may start as early as Mid April and last until late September. Individuals must be able to work a minimum twelve week period. ** SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER **

Temporary 3 year assignment associated with
Fuller Brook Path Project Construction

The Town of Wellesley Department of Public Works is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to oversee the construction of a multi-year brook and park reconstruction project. The work will include daily oversight of a complex park restoration project including new paths, sidewalks, roadways, dredging, brook relocation, landscaping, and invasive species treatments. The incumbent must be able to interpret landscape plans, have a knowledge of landscape industry standards and have the ability to assure adherence to project plans, specifications and budgets to ensure that the project complies with federal, state and local environmental statutes, bylaws and regulations, including storm water management regulations.  The position will work within the Department of Public Works Engineering Division. The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing contractor requests for information and proposed project change orders; for developing cost estimates, conducting technical studies and preparing written feasibility and progress reports for construction and maintenance work; and reporting to the Town Engineer and other responsible agencies and committees.  Additional responsibilities include directing and coordinating required phases of land surveying, including the use of GIS equipment, preparing, summarizing and reviewing regulatory permits. Requires:  Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field or equivalent from an accredited school; five years experience in the field of engineering design or land surveying; a thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and terminology used in civil engineering, land surveying, landscaping and environmental science and construction project management; knowledge of permitting requirements and registration as a Professional Engineer in Massachusetts.  Also required are a working knowledge of and experience with civil engineering/environmental engineering computer applications, including CAD and/or GIS, a valid Massachusetts Driver’s License and excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills, including technical reports and grant writing. ** Office Assistant (19 hours/week) **

The Town of Wellesley recognizes the need to provide outstanding maintenance and operation services in its school and town buildings through its Facilities Maintenance Department (FMD).  The FMD manages twenty buildings totaling over a million square feet, with a staff of 64 and an operating budget of over $6.4 million, plus a major capital projects budget.  This department currently has a job opportunity for a part-time custodial position.  The Town seeks outstanding candidates who are hard-working, ambitious, and committed to working in a team environment.

The FMD is currently looking for a 15 hour/week custodian at the Wellesley Free Library.  Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor, responsibilities include opening the building, cleaning tasks; assisting with regular and periodic maintenance; cleaning windows and sidewalks; event set up and break down; and shoveling snow.  Requirements:  High School diploma or equivalent; demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision; ability to lift 50lbs.; manual dexterity; and demonstrated initiative in recognizing needed tasks within sphere of responsibility. Presently we are seeking individuals to assist our custodial staff in summer cleaning of schools.  We are seeking hard working candidates that can follow verbal & written directions, work independently and possess a strong work ethic.  Positions may start as early as June 23rd (must be able to start no later than July 1st) and last until late August.  Individuals must be able to work a minimum seven week period. Full time seasonal work is available, no weekend or holiday hours are required and candidates must be least 18 years old to apply.  All work is conducted between the hours of 7am and 3:30pm, Monday through Friday and the hourly rate is $10/hour for new hires.  Interested candidates should send a resume or call for an application no later than May 9, 2014.
