TRAILS COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
August 26, 2008

Attendees: Denny Nackoney, Len Poitras, John Schuler, Miguel Lessing, Bob Brown, Bob White, Rina Rub
Citizen: Bob Seacrest

Bob Seacrest was interested in the progress of the Wellesley Country Club's reroute of the Sudbury Path along Wellesley Ave near Forest St. The bridge over Academy Brook is in place. The DPW will be striping a cross-walk across Forest St.

Diane Hall will assume responsibility for monitoringCentennial Reservation and the doggie bag dispenser. I have attached an updated, 9/1,Map House and Trail Monitor list.

The DPW has cut up a major blow down on the Crosstown Trail near Fairbanks, they will also investigate the erosion at the bottom of the Woodlawn steps. I will talk to them about a "No Dumping" sign on the Beard Trail at Grove. I will also talk to them about getting an estimate for constructing steps in the eroded sectionof the Morses Pond Trail.

Neal Seaborn has formed a Committee to work with the DCR on repairing the Railroad Bridge in Lower Falls. The Committee is investigating funding options to match the DCR's contribution, including the use of CPA funds and donations from local merchants who could benefit from pedestrian access from Newton. National Developments plans for the 27 Washington, Grossman's, property are being challenged by neighbors.

The Fall Trails walk schedule is set and leaders have been assigned. Joan could use help on Sunday,September 21st with Kid's TrailDay. If you are available show up at the MassBay parking lot at 1:00.

On August 28th the Trails Committee rerouteda portion of the Centennial Reservation Path near the lowerbridge. The DPWhas moved the heavy bridge into position.This Saturday, Sep 6th, we will finish the project by moving two posts andclosing the old trail. We will be starting at 8:00 and should be finished by 9:00.

Our next meeting will be Thursday, September 25th at 7:30 in the NRC Office.
