Meeting Minutes
January 5, 2010
Attendees: Denny Nackoney, Joan Gaughan, Bob Brown, Peter Rovick, Diane Hall, Miguel Lessing, John Schuler, Bob White
I will be the Trails Committee representative to the Fuller Brook Park Restoration Committee. The first Committee meeting will be Friday Jan 15th. There will be a Public Hearing on this project Tuesday, Jan 12th at 7:30 in Town Hall. I will bring forward our concerns with the section between State and Paine, the boardwalk, potential bike speeds, and several other minor issues.
The DCR is moving ahead with their plans to complete the Lower Falls Bridge. The CPC does not believe that this project is ready for the funding to design the linear park between Washington St and the bridge and complete the temporary path.
Miguel and Peter designed and had prepared a laminated sign to publicize our trails walks. The new sign will be more visible at the Rt 135 Rotary and RDF.
The Spring walks will be held on May 1 (Beard Path), May 15 (Centennial), May 22 (Warren to State) and June 5 (Boulder Brook).
Working with Helen MacDonald and Kathy Nagle, I have confirmed a process to ensure that the Annual Town Report has the correct roster of Trails Committee members. Kathy has the current list. New members will follow the existing process of being nominated by the NRC Director and sworn in by the Town Clerk. When a member resigns, the Trails Committee Chair will send an email to the NRC Office copying the Town Clerk. The NRC Office will send a confirming email to the Town Clerk.
At our next meeting, Tuesday, Feb 2, we will vote on funding a Trails table at Babson's Energy and Environmental Forum as well as recent trail reroutes.
