TRAILS COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
February 2, 2010
Attendees: Rina Rub, Miguel Lessing, Diane Hall, Denny Nackoney, Joan Gaughan, Bob Brown, Bob White
Denny reviewed the revised trails map which shows the recent trail reroutes. The new map will be uploaded to the website and used when we print new folding maps. Because the changes are minor, we will not replace the laminated maps in the map houses at this time.
A Fuller Brook Coordinating Committee has been formed to assist the NRC in the preservation process. Members of the Committee include representatives from the NRC, DPW, Planning, Schools, Trails, Historic, and an abutter representative. The current plan is to request CPC funding at the March ATM to proceed with design work which will include several path options.
National Development has revised their plans for 27 Washington, Grossman's site. The revised plans still show the path from Washington St to the Charles and then westward along the Charles to DCR land near Boulevard Rd. I will continue to monitor this project.
The Needham DPW has reject our request for a crosswalk across 135 along the Sudbury Path. They felt that there was not enough pedestrian traffic and there is no sidewalk on the north side of 135.
The School Committee has indicated that they would grant us permission to mark and map a path through the triangle of land that they control on the north side of Rice St. Once we have determined the exact location we would like, we will bring a request to a School Committee meeting.
Due to hazardous walking condition in the "chute" at Centennial, we will look at an alternative route between the middle and upper meadows. We will schedule a site visit this spring.
We will submit revisions to the Open Space Plan, after we get a draft from the NRC.
Our next meeting will be Tuesday March 16th at 7:30. We will discuss a geocaching event, hats, and a potential minor funding request.
