The Fall Kids Day will be a geo-caching event in the Town Forest. Diane, Joan and Peter will select the sites and prepare the write-ups for the approximately 12 locations. Denny will help with the GPS locations. The event is tentatively scheduled for October 24th. The Committee approved funds for the purchase of small items for the event. At the next meeting we will finalize the three Fall walks.
The Fuller Brook Committee has received phase one proposals from nine firms. The firm selected to provide conceptual designs for the path and plans for the brook and invasives will be selected by the end of June.
Construction on the Lower Falls bridge should begin this month. National Development, the owner of 27 Washington St, will install the path from the bridge to Washington St and along the Charles River connecting with the path on the DCR land to the west of the property.
The Committee approved the purchase of Trails magnets. The new magnets will be a little more sturdy than the first batch.
Diane will take pictures of encroachment on the Crosstown trail near Croton and forward them to Hans Larson.
After the meeting I asked the MLP board to allow a limited number of parking spaces for walkers at the Weston/Linden electric sub-station. Diane and I will attend the June 22nd MLP Board meeting to discuss this issue with the Board.
There are two upcoming work projects: Sat June 12th at 9:00 at Rockridge Pond to revitalize the small drainage ditch and at the Guernsey Path to improve the drainage along this path.
Sat June 19th at Centennial Reservation at 9:00 to create an short reroute which will hopefully be more user friendly in the winter than the current chute.
Miguel Lessing has been elected Chair of the Trails Committee and Denny Nackoney has been elected Vice Chair. Both Miguel and Denny will begin their terms on July 1st.
Our next meeting will be Tuesday June 29th at 7:30.
